I was born in Hollywood, California, where my father had managed to establish himself as an Oscar-winning screenwriter. Having grown up in a world of the arts, I have drawn, painted and written for as long as I can remember. Though I started college as an architecture major, I finished in graphic design, later using both disciplines to work with my architect husband. A native of Montana, Dean had felt the need early on to pursue a career in Seattle, and it was there that our daughters Lisa and Kerry would spend their childhoods. His yearning for Montana, however, never really lessened, and we both returned in retirement to his childhood dream of a ranch.
The country house we carefully designed would include my dream as well: a stunning light-filled studio that would dispense with the stressful demands of urban design and replace them at last with my own first love - the wildly freeing pursuit of pure watercolor. The transcendent joy this prospect gave me was something I’d always longed for, and it was Dean’s knowledge of this fact that made this gift so golden.
Though we lost him in 2015, he somehow left behind his genuine delight in my work, not just the unfailing encouragement but the sheer acuteness of those practiced eyes that still look over my shoulder.
Thank you for your interest in my work.
